Laser Advertising's Charles Datlen went to Antigua to meet up with Stuart and Robin Ray of the 65-foot Outer Reef Toto. Charles was there to interview the couple and get some photos of the Rays enjoying time on board. This material will be used for an article in an upcoming issue of Go Cruising, a new Australian publication from the publishers of Go Boating.
Robin and Stuart chat with Laurence De Rancourt of the Vivaldi (Rames Dames) racing team. Ms. De Rancourt and her teammates Catherine Remy, Quitterie Marque, and Laurence Grand Clement had just won the Fours Division of the Woodvale Transatlantic Rowing Challenge the day before. Vivaldi left La Gomaa on January 4th arrived in Antigua on March 10, 2010 after 66 days at sea.
Toto was in Antigua to be on hand to welcome their long-time friend Gregg Carroll upon his completion of a two-year circumnavigation on board his Swan 51 Alphatraz. Mr. Carroll completely renovated this classic 1982 Swan to undertake this around-the-world voyage. A number of old school friends were on hand to share in the celebration.
Above photography by Charles Datlen on location at English Harbour, March 2010. Even though there were periods of rain in Antigua over the weekend, no spirits were dampened. The competitors in the transatlantic rowing race and sailor completing his circumnavigation were all pleased to have accomplished their goals.
