Accordion-fold brochures are both cost effective and high impact. The format provides the opportunity to have a multi-page brochure on just one sheet of paper. This cuts down on assembly and bindery costs. Laser Advertising's current marine marketing self-promo piece is just 5" x 7" when folded: easy to carry, easy to distribute and easy to store. This compact size expands to a full 30" width -- plenty of room to tell a very big story. The end result is a 12-page brochure that fits into a pocket; but has enough panels to describe the full range of advertising and marketing services that Laser Advertising offers to the marine community: yacht photography, aerial photography, video production, print media, yacht brochures, sales brochures, and website design. The format is reader-friendly, breaking down the content into manageable topics and easy to scan.
In most cases, the sizes that are most economical for the client are the most recipient-friendly as well. The main reason we like a pocket-sized brochure is that we give them out at events. It's easy for the recipient to put it in a jacket pocket or a purse and take it with them. For larger format brochures, we like a size that fits a standard FedEx envelope for most situations.
Even though it's economical and compact, the accordion-fold has a greater impact than if it were a 5" x 7" saddle-stitched booklet. The booklet never has a footprint larger than 10" x 7"; the size of an opened greeting card. The e-brochure above demonstrates how it would look as a standard, saddle-stitched booklet. On the other hand, the actual printed piece opens up to almost a yard in width and always impresses.
We chose this layout primarily because it was an effective way to to present a great deal of information in an easy-to-understand format. The panels help organize the message and provide a place for us to showcase our yacht photography services. If you're looking for a fresh look for your print promotions, consider the accordion-fold option.
