We visited Lady Victoria, a 2004 88-foot Rayburn, at Bahia Mar this evening and it was a great opportunity to catch up with this excellent charter vessel. Arriving after dark, we enjoyed seeing the spacious top deck illuminated by candlelight. Inside, the boat gleamed with highly polished wood. The master stateroom is impressively—and unexpectedly—large. Everyone we overheard exclaimed that they couldn't believe that the master stateroom was that of an 88-footer. Rayburn has done a superb job in organizing the interior space to maximum effectiveness.
Captain Shan Crook spoke with us about his favorite places to visit in the Bahamas. He recommends the Exumas for the clarity of water and for the tranquility. Lady Victoria has a Bahamas-friendly draft and provides charter guests access to a wide range of unspoiled cruising areas that are not practical for larger yachts or cruise ships.
Lady Victoria's charter representative is Els Bucknell of Churchill Yacht Partners who was on hand to answer questions about the boat and its itineraries.
The main salon was inviting with an appealing hors d'oeuvres display created by the yacht chef D. J. Marchand and stewardess JoAnn Barber kept the wine flowing. I indulged myself and tried every dish: a pleasantly salty tapenade, enormous shrimp, pesto tortellini skewers, prosciutto-wrapped asparagus, and a refreshing crisp endive with cheese. The evening was organized by the Florida Yacht Brokers Association.
