Finding the best seafood batter at the Newport Show
My boat show mate Jake Anderson and I have dined at seafood restaurants all over
the globe and we have decided that Benjamin's Restaurant in Newport has the
best fry seafood batter. Just across America's Cup Avenue, Benjamin's is
located on the second floor of a quaint downtown building. With views of the
harbor and a nice breeze it is the perfect quick get-away from the show.
Receiving fresh shipments of fish daily, the menu is mostly seafood but has a
nice selection of land-loving meals as well. I had the fried shrimp, made with
the largest gulf shrimp I have ever seen, while Jake had the sole sandwich
special, filled with two whole fillets. Both meals were delicious. Benjamin's
provides indoor and outdoor dining as well as food service at the bar, and it's
far enough away from the show that there wasn't a wait. The food and service
were impeccable; we highly recommend it to anyone.
